Dive Training Courses

Course Details

Aquatech Services currently runs half-day rescue training courses in a confined water setting for those organisations whose staff need to demonstrate proficiency in these skills on an annual basis.

This is not Vocational Educational Training and is not Nationally Recognised, nor is the training carried out under the auspices of any of the Recreational Dive Training Agencies.

Each package is tailor-made to suit the requirements of the organisationโ€™s Dive Officer and / or HSE manager in conjunction with Aquatechโ€™s founder and lead trainer, Julian Holliday. Julian holds instructor ratings with PADI, SSI, BSAC and DAN.

These courses may include the following skills:
โ€ข Swim and / or stress tests.
โ€ข Equipment idiosyncrasies and safety gear.
โ€ข Self-rescue techniques & the requirement of establishing positive buoyancy.
โ€ข Managing and retrieving tired, panicked or unconscious divers on the surface.
โ€ข Retrieval of unconscious or passively panicking divers from below.
โ€ข Use of in-water rescue breathing for non-breathing divers on the surface.
โ€ข Out of air scenarios including sharing air and regulator recovery.
โ€ข Mask removal and clearing.
โ€ข Deployment of Surface Marker Buoys.
โ€ข Emergency air dumps to avoid surface collisions.
โ€ข Exiting procedures.


Course Requirements

โ€ข Occupational diving requires a high degree of physical and psychological fitness. There are a number of neurological, cardiac and pulmonary conditions that are not compatible with occupational diving.

โ€ข It is the responsibility of the diver to establish that he or she is suitably fit to dive on the day of training. In the event of illness please notify Aquatech as soon as possible by telephone that you will not be able to attend.


Pre-requisites

โ€ข Have a certificate of Diving Medical Fitness in accordance with AS/NZS 2299.1 issued within 12 months of the date of rescue training.

โ€ข Bring a full set of functioning scuba equipment including a cylinder, weights and exposure protection suitable to be in a swimming pool for three hours.
